Illamasqua have always been one of our most loved brands thanks to their bold and brilliant colour choices and innovative makeup solutions. The brand have always dared to be different, and acted as a leader in the UK makeup industry. It appears they have done it again, adding a new section to their website making it easier than ever before to shop for vegan cosmetics. The best part is – almost all of our favourites are in there. In this post we list our top vegan makeup picks from one of our fave brands.
- The Best Vegan Foundation – Skin Base
We love Skinbase, social media sensation Jamie Genevieve loves Skinbase, and now vegans can love this cult product too – safe in the knowledge it is both cruelty free and free from any animal products. Skinbase provides a buildable and flawless coverage, making it perfect for both light and heavy coverage occasions.
Skinbase Tips –
Rosie Ryot prefers a lighter dewy finish, so teams her skin base with a beauty mist, or for extra luminosity or a pea-sized amount of liquid highlighter.
Personally I am all about that full-coverage life, using a matte primer, and setting with a translucent powder.
Katie Lou Ryot recommends using a powder over Skinbase if you plan to use a powder contour, or leaving it powder-free if using a cream contour.
- Freak Perfume
This was a complete surprise to me. I never expect much from makeup focussed brands when it comes to perfume but after receiving this as a gift I was obsessed. As you can imagine, it has a dark and spicy sweetness to it – very on brand.
- Nail Varnish
The Illamasqua nail varnishes dry like a dream. Whilst you need a few coats to get a good vibrant colour, it is exceptionally chip-proof.
- Vintage Metallics
The Illamasqua Vintage Metallics make a perfect base for eye shadow, or can be worn alone for a quick and easy eye look. The packaging on these is just beautiful, and they would look perfect on a vintage vanity.
5. Brow Cake
Brow cake is my ultimate go-to brow product. Whilst I do occasionally use a pomade, this brow powder is so versatile and allows you to create a number of brow effects. Use the powder alone to accentuate your natural brows, mix with a little water for a more carved out look, or mix with Illamasqua sealing gel for sweat proof brows o’ wonder.
