I am such a sucker for skincare, and when I noticed that Tarte had a delightful looking skin care range AND free shipping, it was hard to resist. I have used a number of Tarte products now and I have honestly loved (almost) every one. Tarte is fast becoming one of my favourite brands, not least because it is cruelty free and many of their products are also vegan.
I honestly hadn’t and still haven’t heard anyone else talking about this product – so this is a review written completely in a vacuum!
Tarte Frixxxtion Stick 3-in-1 Exfoliating Cleanser is part of the Rainforest of the Sea collection. It is cruelty-free, vegan friendly and comes in at £18.
Buying Tarte Cosmetics in the UK
I bought Tarte Frixxxtion Stick 3-in-1 Exfoliating Cleanser directly from the Tarte website where they had free international shipping – the three most glorious words in cosmetics perhaps? Trate almost always have some kind of deal available, so I would recommend signing up to their mailing list if you haven’t already to keep up with offers.
The products did not take long at all to arrive, and Tarte automatically add on customs charges at checkout, so in my experience, you never have to pay customs afterwards which can hold up delivery. However, because my order was under the threshold for customs, I didn’t pay anything. TOP TIP – when there is free shipping, order individual items separately to avoid customs charges. You’re welcome.
I was sent a standard confirmation email right after ordering, and a subsequent email when my product shipped. You can also track your order on the Tarte site, and subsequently with the local courier. I have not yet had any direct dealings with Tarte customer service, but they seem like a pretty on it company.
Packaging of Tarte Frixxxtion Stick 3-in-1 Exfoliating Cleanser
The packaging is really pretty. Dark purple, turquoise and gold make it really stand out from other skin care brands and you can tell its high quality. The actual product packaging is also nice, it feel sturdy and I would be happy to travel with this or throw it in my bag.
First Impressions of Tarte Frixxxtion Stick 3-in-1 Exfoliating Cleanser
Not gonna lie, I thought it was a little small when I first opened it. I’m not sure how long this will last, but if it lasts a while this will be an excellent travel companion. You also don’t really need to use much of the product if you don’t want to. Day-to-day, I will use a couple of swipes on my cheek and once a week basically colour in my whole face. There isn’t much of a smell to the product, its subtly scented with a spa type smell, but its definitely very discreet. Tarte Frixxxtion Stick 3-in-1 Exfoliating Cleanser contains charcoal powder, known for clearing away impurities and giving the products a dark charcoal colour.
Using Tarte Frixxxtion Stick 3-in-1 Exfoliating Cleanser
I think my favourite thing about this product is how EASY it is to use. Twist, swipe, scrub. It is the lazy girl’s dream and I find myself reaching for it even where I had intended to use a regular cream or oil cleanser. Surprisingly, it is not at all messy. I have previously used Lush Cosmetics Dark Angels, which is also super black and that makes such a mess. However, Tarte Frixxxtion Stick 3-in-1 Exfoliating Cleanser doesn’t really leave any black drips as I had anticipated.
My other love for this product stem from how ‘scrubby’ it feels. The granules in the stick are super fine, so I feel like they are really getting deep down into my pores and getting the dirt out. The stick itself is almost the texture of a gel, and is surprisingly wet on the skin when you swipe it on. I have also tried swiping the stick and then adding another cleanser on top which seems to work well.
Tarte Frixxxtion Stick 3-in-1 Exfoliating Cleanser left my skin SMOOTH. Like baby but smooth, and also really glowy, if not a little red. I do find the texture of my skin has improved after using this for around a month. I struggle with mild acne scarring, and this has helped. Not dramatically, but in terms of overall skin texture. Tarte haven’t really been singing from the rooftops about this product, and the fact that I haven’t heard much about it in beauty circles is odd because it’s great. The product promises to draw out surface oil, to reduce shine, to purify pores, to fight dullness, to polish and cleanse, that it can be used regularly and to absorb toxins. I can attest to the fact that it does perform in most of these areas, however I don’t suffer from oily skin so can’t make comment on that.
